I didn't read all the replies, but can I recomend something??? Keep with the helmets until your ortho tells you to quit. We were about a year post opp when we quit wearing them, and Kaitlynn was about 18 months old. I would've liked to have gone longer. Her head now has lumps and bumps on the top. I fear it was b/c we quit wearing her helmet when we did and b/c we were tired of it. She could've wore it longer, but we were done dealing with it. Her hair is in and not that the lumps will make a difference but it's my fault and I feel horrible about it.
