Default Eczema on forehead

Hi Everyone,

I haven't posted in a LONG TIME, we've had alot going on in the past few months. Anyway, Jake has had a rash on his forehead for about 2 mths now. I thought at first it was an allergic reaction to some new bath toys that I bought. Well, it didn't clear up so we took him to the dr & she said it was definitely eczema. It still has not cleared up, it has actually gotten worse.

Has anyone else had this problem??? I need some help. I have been taking his helmet off for more that just the 1 hr, it's been more like 4-5 hrs. This morning I took it off at 830 & just didn't put it back on. Jakes forehead is completely red with raised bumps. The creme the dr gave him does not seem to be working.

Any suggestions???

I have no experience with helmets, so if that is causing the problem then I can't help but I have LOTS of experience with eczema! I had it as a young child, then it came back when I was about 16. I struggled with different creams, moisturizers, etc. for years until finally I got the magic prescription from a dermatologist. I'll copy what's on the label & if you can get a doctor to write it out for you it will definitely work on eczema: 200GM Hydrophilic Petrolatum: 1% Hydrocortisone.

The problem with eczema is the skin cannot retain moisture in that spot. It becomes itchy & scratching just makes it worse. The idea is to create an artificial barrier with the cream, and the small amount of hc helps with the itching & inflamation until the skin can heal. Typically eczema looks like raised, round-ish patches, sometimes with scaly dry skin. I'm not sure about teh raised bumps you mentioned. If it doesn't seem like eczema to you you may want to see a dermatologist.

Good luck!

Well, we took Jake to the dermatologist & he has something called "Tinea Versicolor", it is a fungus from the sweat & helmet.

It had to happen to us!!!

What are they gonna give you for the fungus? I think my little girl is starting to develop a fungal infection as well. Her head is itching her so bad when we take off the helmet and it gets all red. Have they just told you to use a dandruff shampoo? My kiddo is only 5 months so I was kinda hesitant to use it on such a young one.

Joey had terrible eczema on his head as a baby, we had to smother his little head in a cream called "diprobase" it worked wonders and he has actually now grown out of it, although he does have very dry patched on his back and behind his knees xx

My friend's two girls both have small patches of eczema and she recommended something fairly new which is calomine cream (as opposed to calomine lotion).

I recommended it to a work colleague whose DS suffers loads and apparently he's now sleeping through the night for the first time in ages and his eczema is loads better and his wife thinks I'm wonderful lol!

May be worth trying!

They gave us a creme called Oxicanozole Nitrate. It has really cleared up his forehead but his complexion is stilled a little discolored. The dermatologist says for us to wash his head in selson blue once a week to help fight off the fungus. This creme is supposed to kill the "yeast" but the discoloration on his forehead could take a few months to come back. Hopefully we caught it in time so it won't be a problem.

Eczema on face is really very embarrassing. Babies usually develop atopic eczema in the age group between one to six months, it is first visible on forehead there is a chance of spreading it to the rest of the face. Symptoms of eczema on face are redness, dryness and constant itchiness. For children’s it better to treat with natural remedies to avoid in case of any side effects.
