Wish I would've seen this post a few days ago. My little girl has a birth mark on the back of her head and when it gets heated up from the helmet it turns dark red. The ortho explained exactly what you just posted about the heat. It causes the blood vessels to dialate and veins and birthmarks become more prominent. Her birthmark usually cools off during helmet hour and goes back down to a light pink.
